Major Russian Attacks Cut Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while local people in the city's east were plunged into darkness and encountered interruptions to water systems, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has increased attacks on power infrastructure over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but decisive action - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 projectiles targeted energy facilities, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and three other people were injured.

The strikes follow evenings of aerial attacks in the area, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with assaults already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

He said energy workers and authorities were anticipating additional strikes.
